Activity
  1. Start at the beginning by going to the popular social bookmarking site "delicious" (http://www.delicious.com)
  2. Any interesting bookmarks on the home page?
  3. Look at the most recent bookmarks (http://delicious.com/recent/). Find something of interest and click on the name of the person who recently bookmarked the page (the username is listed below the bookmark.) What can you discover about the person you selected? What are they "following"? What are their interests? What tags are they using on a regular basis?
  4. When exploring delicious, you are usually looking for "experts" or people with common interests. You can follow their bookmarks to keep up with the latest on the web. You can also use them as a resource for researching papers, etc.
  5. I work regularly with Chris Brogan. He's a social media "guru". Take a look at his bookmarks
  6. You can also explore delicious using tags (instead of following a particular person.) Look at the most popular tags on delicious (http://delicious.com/?view=tags). Click on a tag of interest on the far right of the page. Notice that you can use this page to explore individual people or related tags.
